Press Kit

Many films are produced by huge Hollywood companies which offer a huge amount of funding, but as my film is a short british independent film many finance comes from small independent companies or they are granted for example the UK film council.

Name

The name of my production is called Blue Print Production this is because Blueprints are designs often used for architecture or engineering, but I used this in media as you have to design or create something which is very unique you need to go through the process of making the film work and try out every element making sure there is no hiccup so if it is a huge plan infront of you, the planning or production can not go wrong.

Blue-Print-logo  This logo was used because the name Blueprint associates with a finger print which is the colour blue, I think that using this logo audiences will remember us as having a print in colour blue.

Funding – many forms of funding can be used for my production work such as UK Film Council/British Film Institute, National and Regional Screen Agencies, Local Councils, Charities Production Schemes & Competitions.

The production i chose was UK Film Council. This is because recently the UK film council has been around for 13 years and have high experience in funding films, UK film council get money from the National Lottery meaning that it has a chance to become easily funded, previously the national lottery spent over 160million pounds to over 900 films.

Distribution

The distributor we chose was futureshorts this is because futureshort are the largest exhibitors for short films since 2003 showing they have huge amount of experience when it comes to distributing films. Future shorts distribute there films through a festival which means our short film can be shown there and thousands of people can see it. FutureShorts have their own website which has a tab to watch short films, our film can be viewed on their website which means again a lot of people can see it. Internet being the biggest form of technological information access where millions of people have internet, using social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter can distribute our short film in a very effective way and millions of people can view the short film.  Method called word of mouth, meaning people recommend films to other people this method will be effective if people post a video on their facebook page and people post it on there facebook page eventually many people will be watching it.                                                                   Facebook-LogoMusic-on-Youtubetwitter-bird-white-on-blue

Another method to use to distribute our film is using posters, poster needs to be sold and engage the audience and want the audience to actually look at the poster and say ‘that looks like a good film’ these are words that usually come out when somebody really likes the poster. The poster needs to be effective but importantly engage our audience. Its simple a boring poster means nobody will come watch an brilliant poster means there’s potential.

 Exhibition

As my distributors are FutureShorts i think its only right to choose the same company to exhibit our Short film this is because they will know our film, they done all the distribution instead of changing companies who will have to look at all the distribution campaign, view our short again and actually decide to exhibit and have a chance of our film getting rejected. Using FutureShorts is almost a safe option or a certain option because they know what the film is about they have distributed to thousands so they will have a good knowledge how to exhibit the short film effectively and cheaply.

Press Kit

What is a press kit?

a press kit is also referred to a media kit is a pre-packaged set of promotional materials of a person, company, or organization distributed to members of the media for promotional use. They are often distributed to announce a release or for a news conference.

Press Kit for my project is to promote my Short film ‘in her arms’ which will include information needed in order to make the film succeed and even promote the film without information about the film, there would be no point pitching/promoting the film because if they are asked question and they don’t know the answers it wouldn’t only look bad on the promoters but also look bad on the whole Blue Print production company.
